What Is A Long Distance Relationship?
The question sometimes pops up from time to time. People are curious, and wonder what exactly is the description of a long distance relationship, or even an online relationship. A long distance relationship, is when there are two people in an intimate relationship, that are geographically apart. It may be a couple miles, or even a thousand. Of course, the two people do not choose this kind of relationship. After all, who would want to be a considerable distance away from his or her partner? A long distance relationship takes a lot of effort, and dedication put into it. It may not be for everyone. Some relationships are successful and others? Not so much. It is really dependent on the couple involved in the relationship.
An online relationship can be described as a relationship that originally started, well, online. The two people have never met each other yet, but have communicated regularly, and agree to have a relationship online. There is a limit to online relationships, however. Once the two people have met (and if they live a considerable distance apart,) the relationship can be considered as a long distance relationship.
My own relationship started out as an online relationship, then shifted over to a long distance relationship, once we have met each other. It has been that way for four years now (for those of you who do not know the tale, you can read it on the first post of this blog.) It can be hard at times on both of us, but it can also be very rewarding, once we have the chance to visit each other. A long distance relationship can either make two people grow stronger as a couple together, or force them apart. Again, it really depends on the people involved in the relationship. Both people have to be serious about wanting the relationship to work, and committed to communicating with each other. The couple has to also be more creative, with other ways of spending time together, such as watching a movie at the same time, or playing an online game together. There is also honesty that comes with the price of the relationship. It is always good to be honest, and open with each other in a long distance relationship, as with any relationship. A couple has to make sure to share their fears or worries, or even their future goals, and good memories.
