One Year Anniversary, and Other Fun Things!
Today, is my one year anniversary of marriage! I am so happy to have married such a wonderful, charming, funny man. I can remember the day we married just like it was yesterday. It was a cool, Saturday morning. My hubby and I walked down to the Town Hall to meet with the Justice of Peace. We decided to get married on a bridge, in a lovely park near Town Hall. I remember that I couldn't stop looking into his beautiful blue eyes, as the JOP said the ceremonial vows. I also remember thinking Yes, this is the man that I am going to be spending the rest of my life with. I cannot wait to start our lives together.
After the Justice of Peace said those very lines, "You may now kiss," we kissed and hugged each other tightly. I remember feeling relieved, and happy as a clam, glad that we were now husband and wife.
What a year it has been as well, so far. I managed to go to England, and I enjoyed it very much! Let me tell you, it was awesome, and it just felt so right being there with him, living together and going out to various places together. On December 12th, I got off the plane, excited, and eager to see my hubby once again. I went through Border Patrol, got my bags, and almost rushed to the Arrivals area. When I saw V, I gave him a big hug and kiss. We then talked a bit, about my plane ride, and how I lost my phone at JFK (he forever teases me about that), then headed to his uncle's car. His uncle drove us back to the house.
After we arrived to the house, I gave my mother a quick call, just to let her know that I arrived safely. Then, the next moments were beautiful. We hugged, kissed, and cuddled, glad that we were together for the time being. We got intimate, and physical, and showed our love to each other. Every moment on that day was beautiful. It was refreshing just to kiss, and hug him again. It felt like heaven... it felt so right.
On the 14th, we managed to go see The Hobbit in IMAX 3D, at the biggest screen in London. The movie was incredible, and everything that I had expected, and more. I guess the hubby was a bit amused at my awe and excitement about the movie, and he enjoyed it as well! It was sort of like a date with him.
Before going over his parents' house on the 20th, we went to see Big Ben, the London Eye, Westminister Abbey, The Household Calvary Museum, Trafalgar Square, and the Natural History Museum of London. It was nice, see those iconic sites. It was almost like you can see the history of London through the city itself. There were all kinds of statues around the place, and some of the building did look a bit historic.
On the 20th, we went up to Leyland, which is in northern England. It was about a two hour train ride to get there. Up there, we spent some time with his mother, stepfather, cousin, her boyfriend, his aunt, and his grandmother. Man, I love his family, and how welcoming they all were. His mother was so kind, caring, and nice to talk to. In a way, she was almost like a second mother to me, in the way that she helped me get ready for a night out with V and his cousin, and in the way she talked with me.
Christmas was also an enjoyable experience. We had a big dinner, with his mother, stepfather, cousin, and her boyfriend. It was nice having a lovely Christmas dinner with his family. It felt so right, and so comforting, to see that sort of closeness. It felt like I was part of the family, like I really belonged. There was a lot of laughs, talking, and a bit of drinking.
The day after Boxing Day, V and I went with his cousin, to hang at her house with her boyfriend. There, we watched some movies, talked, and had a good time. We also managed to visit his aunt and grandmother during that time.
On the 28th of December, we returned to London, and went out on New Year's Eve. Even though the streets were very crowded on New Year's Eve, I enjoyed being out there in the city with my husband. It was enjoyable to spend our first New Year's together.
We also went to Camden Town, which is an amazing place, full of markets and plenty of people. The markets in Camden cater to almost any kind of need... and they had a Corset Shop, which made me very happy! I bought an underbust corset there, as well as presents for my family in the States; the hubby loved the new corset! I knew from the minute I stepped in Camden, that it would be my go-to place to shop! I mean, they had clothes and accessories for the goth/punk/rock/alternative sub culture, as well as some cyber goth merchandise at this store called Cyberdog. Now, Cyberdog is a huge store, with dance music blasting from the speakers, and neon lights all over the place. It was almost like a rave in there. They had LED shirts and bags available for purchase. There were even people dancing at the store (the store had these platforms, which a person had to access by a ladder. Anyone could get up there and dance.) I KNOW that when I go to England again, I am definitely going to go to Camden Town, once again.
On the Saturday before I had to go home, hubby and I went over his friend's house, to hang out, chat, and drink a bit. It was an awesome experience, hanging out and chatting with his friend. I mean, his friend (let's call him J), is an interesting person to talk to. He's the kind of person who can get just about anyone to open up, and go to for advice, or just for a nice chat about various topics. I could see why he and V are close friends.
In conclusion, the trip to England was an enjoyable experience... the hardest part of the trip was the last day, January 14th. I remember dreading going home that day. I wished the hours would pass by slowly, or that it was all a bad dream, but unfortunately, that was not the case. We hugged, and kissed a bit on that day, and could not stop holding each others' hands.
When we said our goodbyes at the airport, I remember almost seeing tears in my hubby's eyes. I know he was trying not to cry though, and trying to remain stronger. When he finally left, and when I finally went through security... I broke down crying. I cried almost throughout the whole plane ride (more like going from acting calm and collected, to crying). The transition to "normal" life in the States was tough... but I guess I adjusted. The problem though, is that the States does not feel home to me anymore. England feels more like home, and I know that it is England where I belong... England with my husband.
I know that someday, that dream will be fulfilled. Hopefully it will be fulfilled by around 2014. For now, we both have to deal with the visits back and forth. Thankfully, I have another visit already planned out. The plane ticket is bought, and I got the time off. I will be going back to England from August 23rd to October 1st, and I cannot wait. As the months pass by, I cannot help but feel that excitement once again...
